Many clients rely on automated systems such as AutoSys, ActiveBatch, or Tidal to manage their End-of-Day (EOD) processes. When failures occur, even minor issues can escalate and disrupt downstream operations if not addressed promptly. Therefore, it is crucial to closely monitor these processes to ensure timely execution and resolve any failures quickly. In the event of significant issues, our team acts swiftly to contain the impact, identify the root cause, and restore smooth EOD operations. EOD processing is a critical period when trade data is prepared for the next trading day. It is essential that this process runs on schedule and that the data is accurate. Any disruptions can lead to errors that may affect subsequent trading activities. While most issues can be resolved quickly, significant failures highlight the importance of vigilant monitoring and rapid response to maintain operational integrity. Automated processes during EOD can face numerous challenges, including delayed job starts, job failures due to connection issues or deadlocks, and more severe problems like data corruption, incorrect credentials, or memory shortages. Our primary challenge is ensuring that these issues are addressed in real-time, minimizing delays and preventing downstream impacts on the EOD process. OmniVista closely monitors EOD processes to quickly identify and resolve alerts. Even minor timing issues can prevent jobs from running on schedule, causing delays in the entire EOD workflow. In cases of job failure, OmniVista conducts a thorough review of the job’s audit trail and dependencies to determine the root cause and escalate it to the appropriate team members for resolution. Throughout this process, OmniVista keeps the client informed with timely updates and any additional insights that may assist in the resolution. Earlier this year, we encountered a critical issue where a database server experienced a memory shortage, causing a vital EOD job to fail. Drawing from previous experience, we immediately escalated the issue to the client and initiated an internal escalation with fellow colleagues. As the client’s Database Administrator worked to address the memory issue, OmniVista reviewed previously completed jobs to ensure no data corruption had occurred. During this review, OmniVista identified that several jobs marked as “successfully completed” had in fact failed due to the memory issue. After a thorough assessment, we recommended rerunning these critical jobs once the memory issue was resolved. After receiving confirmation from the client, we carefully reran each job, verifying the integrity of the data at each stage. OmiVista’s prompt identification of the issue enabled the client to take corrective action quickly. Furthermore, our comprehensive review uncovered additional failures that could have gone unnoticed. This proactive approach allowed us to resolve all issues efficiently, ensuring EOD processing could continue without further disruption. OmniVista’s global monitoring capabilities provide 24/7 coverage, ensuring that clients can rest easy, knowing that any issues will be addressed swiftly and reliably. This continuous oversight allows clients to focus on their work without worrying about EOD processing, as they are confident in our ability to handle any challenges that may arise.Executive Summary
